The cognitive behavioral approach to treatment is based upon the principle that our thoughts and behaviors affect our feelings and emotional reactions to situations. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) emphasizes teaching individuals to identify and correct maladaptive thoughts and behaviors, leading to improved mood, enhanced motivation, and an overall healthier quality of life. In other words, treatment is designed to help people learn more effective ways to think and behave in order to achieve their goals.

Nicole Setzer, Ph.D., ACT is a clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety and depression in adults, young adults, adolescents and children.
